Wild Mind Intensive
Arrive: 7pm Friday, Sept 27
Depart: 3pm Tuesday, Oct 1
Golden Gate Canyon State Park,
The registration below is for the first of five intensives that compose the Wild Mind Training Program (WMTP).
"The WMTP is designed for professional human development guides (PHDGs). PHDGs might work in fields such as psychotherapy, psychiatry, clinical psychology, professional counseling, ministry, life coaching, ecotherapy, rites of passage, education, and certain realms of mentoring and outdoor education."
The $200 price is a deposit to hold your place. The final price for this intensive will be between $400-$500, depending on how many people sign up (minimum of 8; maximum of 20). The price includes the campsite/lodging, breakfast and dinner each day and our guides.
Thanks to generous support from the Animas Valley Institute, we are able to offer this program at a significant discount. The standard rate for a Wild Mind Intensive is between $1,100-$1,500 per person.
We are particularly interested in offering this opportunity to people who want to participate in the full training program over the next two years. To learn more, visit the Animas Valley Institute site, or reach out to me here.
There are two forms we require you to complete in order to participate in this program:
Based on Bill Plotkin’s book, Wild Mind: A Field Guide to the Human Psyche, this 5-day intensive is an experiential exploration of our human psyches as unique expressions of the universal forces and patterns of nature.
We will work with what we call the Nature-Based Map of the Human Psyche, which is, among other things, a comprehensive inventory of what can be right about a person, a “shadow” version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM), mainstream psychology’s list of what can go wrong with people.
Our wild minds possess astonishing resources, untapped potentials and depths that we might not even know exist until we discover how to access them, cultivate their powers, and eventually integrate them into our everyday lives.
In this intensive, we’ll access these depths and potentials — which we call the four facets of the Self, or the four dimensions of our innate human wholeness — and also the four sets of fragmented or wounded subpersonalities that form during childhood.
Rather than attempt to eliminate our subpersonalities (which is not possible) or to beat them into submission, we’ll cultivate the four facets of the Self and uncover the gifts of our subpersonalities.
Our goal is to fully embody our multifaceted wild minds, commit ourselves to the largest, soul-infused story we’re capable of living, and serve the greater Earth community.
how to recognize and consciously cultivate the four facets of the Self — your innate human wholeness
how to identify the subpersonalities that supported you in childhood and adolescence to adapt to the challenges of family and social life, but ultimately became barriers to your full and authentic humanity
practices and guidelines for cultivating relationships between the Self and your subpersonalities, enabling you to heal your subpersonalities, discover their gifts, and foster Self-actualization
how each facet of the Self provides essential resources for the underworld journey (the descent to soul), its radical transformation of personal identity, and for living as a visionary artisan of cultural evolution.
We’ll explore the landscape of the psyche through a variety of practices, including creative expression, self-designed ceremony, solo exercises while wandering on the land, group work, movement, voice dialogue, journaling, and deep imagery work.
3pm on Tuesday is the earliest you can depart. We have reserved the campground for Tuesday night as well, so you have the option to stay on the land until Wednesday at 1pm.
There will be ongoing chances to explore and connect and some special, bonus offerings that evening and the following morning.
This is the first of the five modules of the Wild Mind Training Program.
Wild Mind Training Program
Designed for human development guides from a variety of fields, the Wild Mind Training Program (WMTP) is a professional training in the use of the Nature-Based Map of the Human Psyche (NBMHP) to support others to cultivate their innate wholeness and to acquire the skills of Self-healing.
If you apply to the Wild Mind Training Program, it could be with any one or more of several intentions, including the desire to guide nature-based wholing and Self-healing programs, to develop a strong foundation in wholing and Self-healing work to blend into your current professional path, and to further cultivate your own wholeness and capacities for Self-healing.
The objectives of the Wild Mind Training Program are to:
• Provide training in the NBMHP model and in the skills of facilitating nature-based wholing and Self-healing
• Support trainees in their personal cultivation of wholeness and Self-healing
• Support the career development of professionals called to guide others toward wholeness.
